Get to visit wineries in two Rías Baixas subzones: Val do Salnés, the cradle of Albariño, and Ribeira do Ulla, a relatively new subzone quite close to one Spain’s most beautiful cities, Santiago de Compostela.

Our three day tour will give you a fascinating insight into one the loveliest winemaking areas in Europe. You will hear first hand from the men and women who are putting both the Rías Baixas region and the Rías Baixas wine appellation on the world wine map. Along the way, you’ll get to taste some of the finest food in Spain.
Itinerary

After picking you up from the airport/train station, we’ll check into the wonderful Quinta de San Amaro Hotel & Restaurant, one of the finest country hotels in Galicia, located only twenty minutes from the beautiful provincial capital Pontevedra.

Surrounded by vineyards, picturesque stone barns and a small church, it’s the perfect base for a Rías Baixas wine and food tour.

After a leisurely lunch at the hotel we’ll take in our first two Salnés Valley wineries, returning to Quinta de San Amaro in the early evening for dinner and free time.

On day two in the morning we’ll visit an award-winning winery in the Riás Baixas Ribeira do Ulla subzone and then head for the ancient city of Santiago de Compostela, visit the municipal market where we’ll have lunch and then a walk around, imbibing the wonderful atmosphere of its gorgeous streets and open air cafés.

After that it’s back to the Quinta de San Amaro and time out before we head to Pontevedra for dinner at the town’s premier “viñoteca” Bagos.

On day three we drive down to the Real Club Nautico Vigo. Here a private yacht will take us out to the islands of the Parque Nacional de las Islas del Atlántico, anchoring off the spectacular Playa de Rodas.

We’ll have a spectacular seafood based lunch onboard a 39′ Elan Impression, taste some fine Albariño and perhaps have a dip, should the mood take us. After this we’ll head back to the Quinta de San Amaro for our farewell dinner.

On the morning of day four we’ll drop you off at the airport for your onward journey.

What travelers say

“We have recently returned from an amazing week in Pontevedra and were lucky enough to meet Adrian McManus from North West Iberia Wine Tours, who took a group of 8 of us out on an amazing visit to two beautiful vineyards, where we tasted some fantastic Albariño wine. The tour was extremely well organised and very informative about the area and vineyards. We were taken to places that we would never have found on our own and had an amazing lunch and drinks. We will certainly be returning to Pontevedra and will be making sure that we arrange another tour with Adrian. Thank you so much for a great day.”
